 Abstract:  Anthony Petruzzi is a gay activist, genealogist, and librarian from Euclid, Ohio. From 1987 to 1989, Petruzzi was a member, co-chairperson, and president of HUGS-EAST, a social and educational gay and lesbian organization in Lake County, Ohio. From 1988 to 1989, Petruzzi worked to open the organization's Mentor Center Tri-County Gay/Lesbian Drop-In Center at the East Shore Unitarian Universalist Church to serve as a space for social, educational, and emotional support sessions for the gay and lesbian community. Petruzzi was also a member of the Lake County Health District's AIDS Task Force and Health Issues Task Force in the late 1980s. The collection consists of agendas, bylaws, correspondence, directories, essays, invitations, lease agreements, mission statements, newsletters, newspaper clippings, proposals, publications, questionnaires, and schedules.

 Abstract:  Chevrei Tikva, a religious congregation organized to meet the needs of gay, lesbian, and transgendered Jews, was founded in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1983. The name Chevrei Tikva (Hebrew for "friends of hope") was chosen in Hovember 1983. Religious services were initially held in members' homes. From 1984-1989 the group met at The Civic, 3130 Mayfield Road, in Cleveland Heights. The congregation acquired its Torah scroll in 1986, and introduced varied programming, including Sabbath and holiday services, Passover seders, house dedications, and baby namings. In 1989 the congregation moved its services to the Unitarian Universalist Society of Cleveland, 2728 Lancashire Road, in Cleveland Heights, and also affiliated with the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, which is the synagogue association of the Reform movement. In 2001 Rachel Rembrandt, a graduate of Hebrew Union College, became the congregations' first permanent rabbi. The collection consists of newsletters, minutes, program flyers, lists, correspondence, calendars, prayer services and reports.

 Abstract:  Stonewall Cleveland was established in April 1990 as the political voice of northeastern Ohio's lesbian and gay community. The organization was created in response to increasing violence and sexual discrimination against gays in Cleveland and throughout the nation. Stonewall Cleveland advanced its agendas through advertisements in several gay publications, as well as by engaging religious organizations. More recently, the group has become a Democratic Party club and is a national affiliate of the National Stonewall Democrats under the name Cleveland Stonewall Democrats. The collection consists of agendas, newspaper articles, articles of incorporation, by-laws, correspondence, financial records, flyers, goals and objectives, membership lists, minutes, networking resources, newsletters, organization history, planning calendars, platforms, policy statements, press releases, programs, reports, review of by-laws, structure documents, and surveys.

 Abstract:  The Mukti Fund was established in 1983 by Michael A. Dively and Martin Dupuis to help expand individual awareness and improve the quality of life through community projects. From 1985 through 2001, the fund focused its efforts on the Caribbean nation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, with an emphasis on sustainable development and the preservation of the natural and cultural resources of the islands. The St. Kitts and Nevis Advisory Committee was established in 1988 to allow local leaders input into the grant making decisions. By 2001 the fund began to phase out its Saint Kitts and Nevis projects and concentrate its resources on other areas of interest, including gay and lesbian issues. The collection consists of account statements, correspondence, forms, grant proposals, itineraries, lists, memoranda, minutes, newspaper clippings, notes, photographs, press releases, publications, receipts, reports, and stamps.
